This proverb is used when someone blames the quality or state of the equipment or other external factors for their quality of workmanship.

Example: The vehicle isn’t functioning well because the spares are not of high quality. On the other hand, it’s the case of a bad workman blaming the components or spares.

Example: Do not talk ill about your employee or your mentor for such a small thing or simple discomfort. If the company decides to remove you from service on integrity grounds or your mentor does not show seriousness towards your well-being, then you are the person who would be at a loss.

It may seem to be a Herculean task, but it starts with a small step. This emphasises the importance on the focus towards your goal and starting to work, rather than not trying.

Example: I’m feeling defeated by the possibility of completing 30 pages of article writing work by next week but, I suppose if I start writing a minimum of 3 pages daily, I shall finish the same in 10 days.
